MultiChoice Kenya has unveiled a major overhaul of its DStv subscription packages, reducing the number of packages from six to four and introducing new prices starting at Sh750 per month.
The changes, announced on Monday, October 26, will take effect on November 5, 2026, as the pay-TV provider seeks to make premium entertainment and live sports more accessible to Kenyan households.
Under the new pricing structure, subscribers will choose between DStv Starter at Sh750, DStv Select at Sh1,500, DStv Sports at Sh3,000 and DStv Ultimate at Sh7,300.
The restructuring will also allow subscribers on lower-priced packages to access selected premium content, including live English Premier League football.
The entry-level DStv Starter package will offer up to 116 channels, including Maisha Magic Plus, Maisha Magic Loko, Maisha Magic Poa, Cartoon Network, Disney Junior, La Liga and Novela+.
It will also introduce SuperSport KICKOFF, a new channel offering selected live matches from major football competitions, including the English Premier League.
DStv Select, priced at Sh1,500, will provide up to 149 channels featuring movies, local and international series, children’s programming, lifestyle content and selected sporting events.
Football enthusiasts will have access to DStv Sports at Sh3,000, which will offer up to 159 channels, including coverage of all Premier League matches and UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League fixtures.
The package will also feature WWE and UFC programming alongside entertainment channels available on DStv Select.
DStv Ultimate, the highest-priced package at Sh7,300, will offer up to 180 channels, combining premium entertainment with additional sports coverage, including Formula 1, MotoGP, cricket, rugby, tennis and golf.
All four packages will also be accessible through DStv Stream.
Speaking during the launch, MultiChoice Kenya Chief Executive Officer Nzola Miranda described the changes as a major shift in the company’s approach to the Kenyan market.
“This marks a defining moment in our 30-year journey in Kenya,” Miranda said.
“For the first time, we have undertaken a comprehensive review of our entire product portfolio, reimagining and simplifying our package offerings to reflect the evolving needs, preferences and realities of Kenyan consumers.”
Miranda said the new pricing structure was intended to improve affordability while giving customers greater choice.
The announcement comes as MultiChoice, now part of CANAL+, seeks to strengthen its entertainment offering by leveraging the French media group’s international content partnerships and production capabilities.
CANAL+ Africa Executive Vice President for Content Nomsa Philiso reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in African productions and expanding their reach internationally.
“Not only does CANAL+ share the same passion and commitment, but they are also investing in African storytelling through increased production and global distribution,” Philiso said.
MultiChoice also announced plans to introduce new local productions, including Chamaa, in the coming months.
As part of the changes, customers purchasing new DStv equipment will pay Sh1,500 for an HD decoder and satellite dish, with installation charged separately at Sh500, effective November 5.
