Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged President William Ruto’s supporters to register as voters in large numbers, saying the Head of State should secure a decisive re-election victory in 2027.

Speaking during a prayer service and fundraiser at St Peter’s Cathedral in Kapsabet, Nandi County, on Sunday, Mudavadi said a wide winning margin would help break what he described as Kenya’s cycle of presidential election petitions.

“Since Kenya got into multi-party politics, it is only the late President Mwai Kibaki’s victory in 2002 that was not challenged in court,” Mudavadi said.

He called on residents of Nandi and the wider Rift Valley region to take voter registration seriously, arguing that previous registration numbers in the area were not satisfactory.

“We must break the cycle of petitions. Just like athletes from this region break world records, we want to work together to ensure President Ruto breaks the record by winning without a presidential petition,” he said.

Mudavadi also challenged Kenya Kwanza leaders, including Cabinet members, to defend the government’s development record more actively.

“I urge you to speak with conviction and defend the government, because if we do not defend it, the opposition will not do it,” he said.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary said President Ruto had earned international respect, citing the Africa Forward Summit set to be held in Nairobi on May 11 and 12, 2026. The summit is expected to attract more than 30 heads of state and government.

The event was attended by Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, senators, MPs and other leaders.
